Irene Walsh

Board Member & CPA

Irene is a partner at a tax accountancy and an adaptive rowing coach for the US Air Force. Her work supporting disabled veterans goes back decades.

My Background

Irene is a florist-turned-CPA. In her day job, Irene is a principal in KWC CPAs Family Wealth Services Group who specializes in tax planning, gift, and estate planning for high net worth individuals. But Irene’s real passion is on the water: as an adaptive rowing coach for the US Air Force’s Wounded Warrior Program.

After working for many years with disabled service members and veterans, supporting the children of Afghanistan was a natural extension. Irene is pleased to bring her experience in financial planning and charity governance to Afghan Scouts Durham.

A graduate of Georgetown University, Irene has received numerous professional and personal awards and recognitions including: CPA Practice Advisor’s 40 Under 40, and the Leadership Center for Excellence’s 40 Under 40. She has served as a board member for the Northern Chapter of the Virginia Society of CPAs. In addition to her work as an adaptive rowing coach, Irene has represented the USA as the head rowing coach for the Invictus Games, leading three teams. She also volunteers as the treasurer of the Alexandria Rowing Community.
